How to get the most from these
Stories give children a script
"I didn't like that, but I still want to play" is a hard sentence to invent under pressure. Hearing it in a story a dozen times makes it available when it's needed.
Don't rush to the moral
Let the character be wrong for a few pages. Children learn more from watching a repair than from being told to be kind.
