The cat came on Tuesdays. Not Mondays. Not Wednesdays. Tuesdays, at roughly four o'clock, and he sat on the step until somebody noticed him.
Nour had been leaving out a saucer for six weeks. She'd started to plan her Tuesdays around it, which she suspected was the wrong way round.
One Tuesday she followed him. Two doors down, he stopped, and a very old man opened the door before the cat had even sat, as though he had been standing behind it, waiting.
