What happens

At the school of small magic, students get exactly one spell each day and must choose it at breakfast, before they know what the day holds. A story about opportunity cost that never once uses the phrase.

The rule at Underbell was simple enough to fit on the breakfast board: ONE SPELL. CHOOSE NOW. NO SWAPS.

Tuesday morning, Hana chose Unstick, because her drawer had been jammed for a week and it was driving her mad.

At twenty past two that afternoon, standing in the rain outside a locked greenhouse with the class hamster loose inside it, Hana thought about her drawer for quite a long time.

The rest of the story is written around your child — their name, their age, and the hero they describe.
