What happens
A dragon who has only ever roared tries to say goodnight without waking the whole street. Each attempt gets a little softer, which makes this a story that quiets down as it goes — deliberately built to be read last.

Listen to this story
The dragon wanted to say goodnight. The trouble was that the dragon had one voice, and that voice was a ROAR.
"Softer," said Amira, from under the covers. The dragon tried. Three roof tiles slid off the house next door.
"Softer than that." The dragon took a very long breath, held it, and let out something halfway between a purr and a kettle. Amira smiled. "Closer," she said.

Why this one is worth your time
- The text physically gets quieter page by page, which cues a calmer reading voice without you thinking about it.
- Models regulating volume, useful for children who have one setting.
- Ends with the dragon asleep, so nothing is left open at lights-out.
Talk about it afterward
- Can you say goodnight in your very quietest voice?
- What helps you make your body calm when it's still noisy inside?
